The Annual Festival Concludes at Sabarimala


The 10-day annual festival at Sabarimala concludes with Arat in Pampa on Wednesday the 27th March 2013.

In the morning the presiding deity in a ceremonial procession, accompanied by orchestra and elephants with caparison, was taken to Pampa. The Arat pooja was performed at Pampa between 11 a.m. and 11.30 Tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru and was assisted by Melsanthi N. Damodaran Potti. Later the deity was seated at the Maha Ganapati temple at Pampa for the devotees to offer prayers till 3.30 p.m. The people who attended the Arat pooja included M.P. Govindan Nair, Travancore Devaswsom Board president; Subhash Vasu, board member; R. Balakrishna Pillai, former Minister; Thennala Balakrishna Pillai, Akhila Bharatha Ayyappa Seva Sanghom national president; K. Babu, Special Commissioner appointed by the Kerala High Court, and K. Sankaranarayana Pillai, Sabarimala executive officer along with large number of devotees from different parts of Kerala and from the neighboring States of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh.

In the afternoon the Arat procession returned to the Sannidhanam. Bringing an end to this year’s festival the Tantri brought down the ceremonial flag on the golden temple mast. The temple was closed after the Athazhapuja and Harivarasanam recital.
