Developmental activities in Sabarimala will have no delay and will start soon say the Devaswom Board President Mr. M.P. Govindan Nair. He was briefing the press about the active vities in connection with the Makaravilakku festivities. The prime objective is the construction of the Annadana Mandapam to provide food to the devotees coming here. He said the construction will start soon. Considering the volume of the devotees special facilities would be made available to the devotees from the state of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamilnadu. This February will see the stone laying ceremony of the Andhra section of Annadana Mandapam. The agreement form to the board pledging Rs. 10 Crore as contribution to the Andhra section of Annadana Mandapam has been given by Mr. Sudarshana Reddy of Ayyappa Seva Samajam Vice Chairman. Also an amount of Rs.15 Crore has been agreed to contribute by a Chennai based devotee.
Mr. Govindan Nair also assured that from next year onwards the toilet facilities in Sabarimala would be made available free of cost to devotees. Rs.30 Crore is estimated for the construction of the sewage treatment plant at Pampa. An elaborate plan would be formed to address the drinking water scarcity at Sabarimala. He also said that the devaswom board is initiating pressure in the government to declare state holiday for Makaravilakku day.
